Kui Mbugua is the General Manager of Uber Eats in Kenya.
Kui has been with Uber since September 2019 and was Strategy and Planning Lead for Sub-Saharan Africa for 2 years before stepping in to the General Manager role. She has also sat on the global board of the Women@Uber global ERG as well as the board of a health tech (BYON8) where she promotes the development of strong networks, access to strategic thinking, the creation of leadership development and learning opportunities as well as peer mentoring. She was also recently recognized as one of the Top 25 Women in Digital in Kenya.
Prior to Uber, Kui worked at McKinsey &Co. as a management consultant where she served clients across Africa in multiple industries (consumer, energy, telco, agriculture and logistics) with a focus on growth and operations strategy and execution and has broad industry experience in customer experience and support strategy. She also worked at Koko Networks, a social enterprise focused on delivering clean energy solutions to low and middle income households on the African continent and prior to that, worked briefly as a commercial lawyer at Bowman’s.
Born in Kenya, Kui is passionate about disruptive business innovation and growth that provides access to economic opportunities that propel the African continent forward. She holds a Master of Laws in International Business and Commercial Law as well as a Bachelor of Laws from The University of Manchester (with a stint at the National University of Singapore).
